Mas madalas na gun safety training ipinag-utos ng PNP

MANILA, Philippines – Ipinag-utos ng Philippine National Police (PNP) sa mga police commanders sa buong bansa na magsagawa ng mas madalas na gun safety training sa kanilang mga tauhan.

Kasabay nito ang pagpapaalala na panatilihin ang pag-iingat sa paghawak at paggamit nito sa lahat ng pagkakataon.

Inilabas ni PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. ang kautusan matapos ang insidente kung saan aksidenteng naiputok ng isang pulis ang baril nito at mapatay ang kapwa pulis sa San Pablo, Laguna kamakailan.

Ang biktima ay kinilalang si Cpl. Fhrank Alden dela Cruz, samantala ang suspek naman ay si Cpl. George Mervin Duran, na kapwa nakatalaga sa Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) ng San Pablo City police station.

Kaugnay nito, sinabi ni PNP public information office chief Col. Redrico Maranan na ang bawat pulis ay dapat na pamilyar sa mga gun safety rules upang maiwasan ang ganitong klase ng insidente.

“After the report reached the office of our chief PNP, Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr, he immediately issued a directive, which is actually a reiteration, to our ground commanders. That should be a priority, it should be conducted weekly and take a look if we have shortcomings,” aniya.

“One may forget it (skills) if they do not practice it from time to time. If you forget basic gun safety rules, that’s dangerous. It may lead to loss of life, just like what happened in San Pablo,” dagdag ni Maranan.

Ayon kay Lt. Gen. Rhodel Sermonia, PNP officer in charge and deputy chief for administration, ang pulis na nakapatay ng kapwa pulis sa Laguna ay mahaharap sa kasong kriminal at administratibo.

Nagkasa na rin ang PNP ng fact-finding investigation at ipagpapatuloy ang gun handling at safety training upang maiwasan ang mga kahalintulad na pangyayari.

“We keep reminding our people to be cautious and at the same time be very careful in handling our own firearms and we have been doing that (trainings) continuously. We have to keep reminding them, especially with the incident that happened like that,” dagdag ni Sermonia. RNT/JGC
