Mining sector ipinasasama ni Tolentino sa Maharlika fund

MANILA, Philippines – Nais ni Senador Francis Tolentino na isama na pagkukuhanan ng pondo para sa proposed Maharlika Wealth Fund ang sektor ng pagmimina sa bansa.

“The mining sector can probably be part of this. I think that would be a good headway,” pahayag ni Tolentino sa panayam ng ANC nitong Miyerkules, Enero 25.

“I would venture into the infusion of private funds… plus if there is a way we can find how to make our natural resources work for us.”

Ito ang naging suhestyon ni Tolentino kasabay ng pagtanggi ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na kunin ang bahagi ng annual income ng government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs) bilang seed capital sa Maharlika Fund.

“We cannot use the funds with the GOCC… Pera ng gobyerno ‘yun. What will the government spend?” ani Marcos.

“This is a lot of income that goes to the national government that will suddenly disappear, go to the Maharlika Fund and cannot be used for the government,” dagdag pa ng Pangulo.

Sa datos na inilabas ng Mines and Geosciences Bureau noong Agosto 2022, aabot sa P224 bilyon ang total production value ng mining industry sa bansa para sa taong 2021. RNT/JGC
