Norway – Tinanggap na ni Maria Ressa ang kanyang Novel Peace Prize sa Oslo, Norway.

“There are so many to thank for keeping us safer and working. The #HoldTheLine Coalition of more than 80 global groups defending press freedom and the human rights groups that help us shine the light. There are costs for you as well: more lawyers have been killed than journalists in the Philippines – at least 63 compared to the 22 journalists murdered after President Rodrigo Duterte took office in 2016,” saad nito sa kanyang talumpati.

Tinanong din si Ressa ng AFP kung inasahan niya bang manalo sa naturang patimpalak.

“Oh my God, no, never, never.”

“Up until today, from the time I was told… You know that painting ‘The Scream’.”

Kasama rin sa nabigyan ng award si Dimitry Muratov, editor-in-chief ng independent newspaper Novaya Gazeta.

“This Nobel light is blinding,” ani Ressa.

“There’s no brighter light than this.”

“It’s for all journalists around the world. We’ve seen the decline in terms of the quality of journalism, the safety of journalist and then the quality of democracies over the last decade,” lahad pa nito. RNT/FGDC
