NTC binira sa kawalan ng transparency sa pagbibigay ng media frequencies

MANILA, Philippines – Sinita ni House Deputy Speaker Rodante Marcoleta ang National Telecommunications Commission sa ginawa nitong pagbibigay ng analog at digital broadcast frequencies ng ABS CBN Advanced Media Broadcasting System, Inc (AMBS) na pagmamay-ari ng business tycoon na si Manny Villar.

Sinabi ni Marcoleta na isa sa bumoto noon para mawalan ng prangkisa ang ABS-CBN na dahil sa kawalang transparency ng NTC ay maituturing na midnight deal ang pinasok nitong kasunduan sa AMBS.

“While I view this development with qualified optimism, we cannot ignore the fact that there appears less or even lack of transparency in the grant of frequencies by the NTC. That being so, the public or otherwise interested entities might view this arrangement as a midnight deal, a situation that we need to avoid,” ani Marcoleta.

Maliban sa AMBS ay ginawad din ng  NTC ang Channel 43 na dating ginagamit ng , ABS-CBN TV Plus programs kay Pastor Apollo Quiboloy na  Swara Sug Media Corp na syang nag ooperate ng Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI).

Habang ang  Channel 23 na ginagamit dati ng  ABS-CBN sports and action channel ay binigay sa  Aliw Broadcasting Corp.

Sinabin ni Marcoleta na hindi malayong maisip ng publiko na may conflict of interest sa mga nakakuha ng ABS CBN frequencies.

“Others might view it as a trade-off, or a midnight deal, considering that the grant of frequencies was done just days before the start of the election period. Still others might speculate that the said arrangement would have the effect of relieving ABS-CBN of its sins and multiple violations that the people were all made aware of in an open public hearing,”ani Marcoleta.

Giniit pa nito na ang paggawad ng provisional authority para sa test broadcast ng Channel 2 ay maaari din na magamit para sa political purposes na papaboran ang ilang kandidato.

Sa panig ng Malacanang nilinaw nito na wala silang kinalaman sa aksyon ng NTC at amg paggawad ng frequencies na dating hawak ng ABS CBN ay naayon sa rules and regulation ng ahensya. Gail Mendoza
