P1,000 vaccinator allowance inihirit ng solon

MANILA, Philippines – Hinimok ni Anakalusugan party-list Rep Mike Defensor ang Department of Health (DOH) at mga local government units (LGUs) na bigyan ng P1,000 na allowance ang mga volunteer vaccinator.

Ayon kay Defenso,  karamihan sa volunteer vaccinators ay nurses na unemployed habang ang iba ay naghihintay ng kanilang trabaho sa ibang bansa, at mayroon ding mga doctor-volunteers na bagong graduate.

“It’s not enough compensation, but it could cover the volunteer’s transportation, snacks and lunch, and perhaps leave him with change good for two to three kilos of well-milled rice,” giit ni Defensor.

Dagdag kita din ang ibibigay na allowance, aniya pa.

“Vaccination duty will be a source of income for those who are jobless or waiting for deployment, and an additional earning for young doctors, if they are given an allowance,” dagdag pa nito.

Aniya, kung kukuha ng nurse na syang magbibigay ng bakuna ay nasa P33,000 kada buwan ang syang ibibigay ng sweldo.

Sa oras na magbigay din ng allowance sa mga volunteers ay mas marami ang mahihikayat na gumawa ng vaccination duty.

“We need more volunteers to ramp up the rollout of vaccines, which has been slowed down by admissions of lapses or breaches of vaccination protocols, which could be attributed partly to the fact that many of our vaccinators are overworked,” ani pa ni Defensor.

Hindi naman umano dapat lumagpas sa 8 oras kada araw ang duty ng mga volunteer vaccinators. Gail Mendoza
