“The UN is where countries of the world congregate to discuss the most pressing challenges facing our people. Thus, it is important for us to participate in the General Assembly and to make certain that our voice is heard,” ayon kay Pangulong Marcos.

Sinabi pa niya na ibabahagi niya ang vision ng Pilipinas sa people-centered development” sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay-diin sa “government’s thrust for economic recovery, food security, and agricultural productivity; and reaffirm the country’s commitment to the ideals of the UN by citing its contributions to peaceful sentiments of disputes and of international law.”

“Thirdly, present the crisis facing our world as opportunities for our nation to take meaningful actions rooted and united by a common purpose—to promote peace, prosperity and sustainable development,” dagdag na pahayag nito.

“I will participate in business activities to forge more partnerships to advance our national, economic, and sustainable development in general. I will be joined in these meetings by key private sector representatives who have been and will continue to be our partners in this endeavor,” ayon kay Pangulong Marcos.

Sa kabilang dako, sinabi naman ni Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Kira Christianne Danganan-Azucena, ihahayag ng Punong Ehekutibo ang kanyang talumpati “at the high level general debate of the opening.”

“He’s speaking at approximately 3:15 in the afternoon of Day 1, that’s Tuesday, September 20, 2022,” ayon kay Azucena sa isang virtual presser.

“The theme of this year’s general debate is ‘A Watershed Moments: Transformative Solutions to Interlocking Challenges.’ We can expect the President’s statement to identify these challenges and solutions to address them, the role of the United Nations and how the Philippines intends to contribute to these efforts,” dagdag na pahayag nito sabay sabing “The President’s statement will also articulate his administration’s priorities which include climate change, the rule of law, and food security.”

“Coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic and with much uncertainty and disruption around us, the President is not sparing any effort to address the economic challenges facing the country today,” ang pahayag ni Gonzaga.

“The President has made it very clear from the initial discussions preparatory to this trip to New York that it will be more than his debut on the world stage. He gave unequivocal instructions that his meetings, whether with fellow world leaders, or with US corporations, should focus on finding necessary partnerships or synergies that will benefit the Philippine economy and the Filipino people,” dagdag na pahayag nito.

“As such, the other most important speech that the President will deliver in New York, aside from his UNGA address, will be at the Philippine Economic Briefing (PEB). The PEB is expected to attract institutional investors, senior corporate executives, business analysts, and even academics, think tanks, and entrepreneurs,” ayon kay Gonzaga.

US companies, US Chamber of Commerce, US-ASEAN Business Council, at US-Philippines Society. Kris Jose
