MANILA, Philippines- Nakatanggap ang isang Filipino envoy ng “highest award” na ipinagkaloob ng gobyerno ng United Arab Emirates sa diplomat bilang pagkilala sa naging kontribusyon nito na i-promote ang bilateral ties.

Pinagkalooban ni President Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan ng Medal of Independence of the First Order si Philippine Ambassador to UAE Hjayceelyn Quintana sa isang seremonya na pinangunahan ni State Minister Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh sa Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation noong Disyembre 21.

Ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), ang award o parangal ay ipinagkakaloob bilang pagkilala sa “efforts and contributions” ni Quintana sa pagpo- promote ng “closer relations” sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at United Arab Emirates at maging ang pagpapalawak sa bilateral cooperation sa bagong larangan ng pagpupunyagi o pagsusumikap.

Labis naman ang pasasalamat ng Ministry of State kay Quintana para sa “wide-ranging efforts” sa pagtatatag ng “robust at dynamic relations” sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at UAE.

Tinukoy din ng ministry ang naging ambag ni Quintana tungo sa “Philippines’ strong presence at the World Expo Dubai—an event”, nilagdaan ng Pilipinas at UAE, isang commitment para pumasok sa isang Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) na kasalukuyang pinaplantsa.

“In her four-year stint in UAE, Quintana advanced the two countries’ relations with the signing of bilateral agreements on consular cooperation, agriculture, investment protection and promotion, space cooperation,” ayon sa DFA.

“She also started negotiations on artificial intelligence and advanced technology, oversaw bilateral meetings on combatting human trafficking and labor cooperation responsible for the resumption of Filipino household service workers’ deployment to the UAE, facilitated the opening of the Office Philippine Defense and Armed Forces Attaché in Abu Dhabi, and established closer engagement with UAE’s defense conglomerate Edge,” dagdag na wika ng departamento.

“My primary goal in bringing our two countries closer is for the two sides to discover the intrinsic value of collaborating towards a shared goal, a better life for the next generation of Filipinos and Emiratis alike,” ani Quintana.
