“It’s just been a proposal… there is another proposal from the Japanese on a US-Japan-Philippines tripartite agreement,” ayon sa Chief Executive.

“I think just part of the continuing process of strengthening our alliances because in these rather confusing, and I dare say dangerous, situations that we have, I’m not talking only about the South China Sea, I’m not only talking about the Indo-Pacific region but, of course, there is a conflict still ongoing in Ukraine and the rather disturbing effects that it has all around the world,” ang sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos sa Kyodo News.

Gayundin, sinabi niya na kailangang pag-usapang mabuti  “as to what exactly does [the tripartite agreement] entail.”

“[A]nd of course we have to talk to the Americans also para makita kung ano ba talagang roles that are going to be played should there be a tripartite agreement,” ang wika ng Pangulo.

“So ‘yung proposal is in concept pa lang, in principle pa lang. We really don’t have—we don’t really have details yet,” dagdag na pahayag nito.

“As I said… it’s only been proposed in principle and that’s as far as it goes so far,” ayon sa Punong Ehekutibo.

“Now we have to go back and go into the details of all of those different subjects,” aniya pa rin.

Sa joint statement, nagpasya ang dalawang Asian leaders na “increase the defense capabilities of their own countries, and further strengthen overall security cooperation.”

Ito ay gagawin sa pamamagitan ng “strategic reciprocal port calls and aircraft visits, transfer of more defense equipment and technology, continuous cooperation on previously-transferred defense equipment, and capacity building.” “

In concrete terms, the leaders affirmed to strengthen efforts to complete transfer of air-surveillance radar systems, and for its related personnel training,” nakasaad sa statement.

Winelcome rin ng dalawang lider ang paglagda sa terms of reference tungkol sa Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) activities ng Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF) sa Pilipinas, na naglalayon na “to simplify the procedures for visits to the Philippines by the JSDF, as one of the efforts to enhance and facilitate cooperation on HADR.”

Nagkasundo rin sina Pangulong Marcos at Prime Minister Kishida na “to continue to consider ways to further advance defense cooperation including through frameworks that will enhance and facilitate education and training exchanges as well as reciprocal visits of defense and military officials.”

Samantala, sinabi ni Prime Minister Kishida na napagkasunduan din nila ni Pangulong Marcos na magkaroon ng “in-depth exchange of views on regional and international situations including our collaboration towards realizing a free and open Indo-Pacific.”

“President Marcos’ visit to Japan gives us a renewed momentum for our two nations to further upgrade our bilateral partnerships, we have seen in many areas over the recent years to an even higher dimension, and for us to make further contributions to the peace and stability of the region and the world,” pahayag ni Kishida. Kris Jose
