PH, Tsina lalagda ng kasunduan vs ‘miscommunications’ sa WPS

MANILA, Philippines- Inaasahang lalagda ang Pilipinas at China ng kasunduan na layuning pigilan ang “miscalculations and miscommunications” ukol sa West Philippine Sea, ayon sa opisyal ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) nitong Huwebes.

Inilahad ito ni DFA Assistant Secretary Nathaniel Imperial sa pre-departure briefing para sa state visit ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. sa Beijing mula January 3 hanggang 5, 2023.

“There are other agreements… for example, you know, to avoid miscalculations and miscommunications in the West Philippine Sea, both sides have agreed to sign an agreement establishing direct communication between the foreign ministries of both countries at various levels and that is expected to be signed by [DFA] Secretary [Enrique] Manalo and his counterpart State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi during the visit,” paglalahad ni Imperial.

Iginiit ni Imperial na nais ni Marcos ng mapayapa at maayos na sitwasyon sa West Philippine Sea at pananatilihin ang “country’s sovereignty and sovereign rights during his meeting with Chinese leaders.”

Sinabi rin ng opisyal na posibleng ilahad ni Marcos kay President Xi Jinping ang tungkol sa oil at gas explorations sa West Philippine Sea.

Hindi na nagbigay ng detalye si Imperial ukol sa diskusyon sa West Philippine Sea.

“We plan to renew our participation in the Belt and Road Initiative of China, which we believe complements the infrastructure program of the administration,” aniya. RNT/SA
