MANILA, Philippines—Naglunsad ang Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) ng isang mobile application na tinawag nilang “How Safe is My House?” nitong Biyernes, Hulyo 16.

  1.   Who built or designed my house?

  2.   How old is my house?

  3.   Has my house been damaged by past earthquakes or disasters?

  4.   What is the shape of my house?

  5.   Has my house been extended or expanded?

  6.   Are the external walls of my house six-inch (150-mm) thick CHB?

  7.   Are steel bars of standard size and spacing use in walls?

  8.   Are there unsupported walls more than three meters wide?

  9.   What is the gable of my house made of?

  10.   What is the foundation of my house?

  11.   What is the soil condition under my house?

  12.   What is the overall condition of the house?

“This (app) will not only benefit the house owner. But if you are a local disaster manager, if you want to really prepare for an earthquake and anticipate its impacts, we can use this questionnaire to survey all of the houses and buildings that we have in our community,” dagdag pa niya.

Ang application na “How Safe is My House?” ay hango sa 2014 print information material na pinagtulungang proyekto ng National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention, Japan International Cooperation Agency, Japan Science and Technology, at ng Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines.
