MANILA, Philippines- Sinilbihan ng Kamara nitong Huweves si Negros Oriental Representative Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves, Jr. ng 60-day suspension order sa patuloy na hindi pagsulpot sa congressional proceedings sa kabila ng napasong travel authority.

Ipinalabas ni House of Representatives Secretary General Reginald Velasco ang kopya ng suspension order ni Teves na may petsang March 22.

Makikita sa kopya na natanggap na ng opisina ni Teves ang suspension order.

“This is to respectfully furnish your Honor with a copy of Committee Report No. 472 submitted by  the Committee on Ethics and Privileges re: the motu proprio investigation relative to Representative Arnolfo ‘Arnie’ A. Teves Jr.’s personal foreign trip to the United States of America with expired travel  clearance and his continued defiance to the orders of the House to return  to the country and perform his duties as House Member, pursuant to Section 7, Rule 1 of the Rules of the House of Representatives, which constitute disorderly behavior affecting the dignity, integrity and reputation of the House of Representatives,” saad sa suspension order.

Nauna nang naghain ang Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) ng tatlong murder complaints laban kay Teves sa mga pagpatay noong 2019.

Dawit din si Teves sa March 4 assassination ni Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.

Itinanggi naman ng mambabatas ang pagkakasangkot sa mga krimen subalit hindi pa rin bumabalik ng Pilipinas mula sa overseas trip.

Bago bumoto ng kanyang mga kasamahan pabor sa kanyang60-day suspension, inihirit ni Teves na makausap si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.

“Gusto ko sana kayo makausap para makapag-explain ako sa inyo. Baka tawagan ko, baka puede kay Boss Anton, para makausap ko po kayo, Mr. President,” pahayag ni Teves sa video sa kanyang Facebook page.

“Again, nirerespeto ko po kayo. Sana lang mapagbigyan niyo ako na makapagusap tayo. Kung kayo na ang humiling na umuwi ako, mas mahihirapan ako na humindi dahil mas may authority kayo makabigay ng proteksyon sa akin,” dagdag niya.

Iginiir pa ni Teves na hindi siya tinutugis ng pamahalaan dahil sa March 4 assassination kay Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo, subalit dahil umano sa mga indibidwal sa pamahalaan na nais siyang makulong dahil umano sa mga maling paratang.

Tinutukoy niya ang aniya’y January 12 press conference kung saan inakusahan niya si Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos ng planong pag-raid sa kanyang bahay at pagplanong magtanim ng ebidensya laban sa kanya. RNT/SA

MANILA, Philippines- Ikinatuwa ni Senator Risa Hontiveros nitong Huwebes ang suspension order na ipinalabas ng Office of the Ombudsman sa government officials na umano’y sangkot sa maanomalyang pagbili ng pandemic supplies mula sa Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corp. noong 2020 at 2021.

Subalit, sinabi ni Hontiveros na umaasa siyang iimbestigahan din ng Ombudsman “masterminds behind this modus.”

“My hope is that the investigation will also look into the masterminds behind this modus, well beyond the foot soldiers and mid-level officials,” pahayag niya.

“Although the Ombudsman order only covers the COVID-19 test kits, we look forward to an investigation of the PPEs and other overpriced procurements.”

Suspendido sa loob ng anim na buwan ang 33 tauhan ng Department of Health (DOH) at ng Procurement Service of the Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) alinsunod sa utos ng Office of the Ombudsman matapos matuklasan ang “overwhelming documentary proof” ng umano’y pagkakadawit nila sa iregularidad, na inimbestigahan ng Senate blue ribbon committee.

Ayon sa Ombudsman, ang mga kaso laban sa 33 “involve grave misconduct, gross neglect of duty, serious dishonesty, and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service.”

“Let justice be served. This investigation is just the beginning,” giit ni Hontiveros, isa sa mga senador na nakilahok sa blue ribbon probe at lumagda sa committee report, sa isang press conference.

“Anumang ill-gotten profit mula sa pera ng taumbayan ay dapat likumin at ibalik sa gobyerno kung saan ito nararapat.”

Inihayag din ni Hontiveros na umaaasa rin siya na mas maraming matutuklasan sa special audit na isasagawa ng Commission on Audit (COA).

“Sa pananaw ko po bunga ng aming investigation kasama si dating DOH secretary Duque,” aniya pa.

Sa kasalukuyan ay wala pang tugon si Duque hinggil dito. Nauna na niyang sinabi na hindi sangkot ang DOH sa anumang transaksyon sa Pharmally.

MANILA, Philippines- Nag-adjourn ang Senado nitong Miyerkules ng gabi matapos maaprubahan ang 14 panukala para sa pag-apruba ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. at anim pa na inaprubahan sa ikatlo at huling pagbasa.

“Needless to say, the Senate is hard at work, and even though plenary session is adjourned until May, we will continue to hold hearings and move forward with our priority measures throughout the next few months,’’ pahayag ni Senate President Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri.

Kabilang sa 14 ang Condonation of Unpaid Amortization and Interest on Loans of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Act and the Act Further Strengthening Professionalism and Promoting the Continuity of Policies and Modernization Initiatives in the AFP, na parehong niratipikahan nitong Miyerkules.

“These two bills are part of the shared priority measures of the administration and the legislative, so we really endeavored to finalize them before adjournment,” pahayag ni Zubiri.

Isa pang priority measure na nakalusot sa Senado ang Mandatory Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) and National Service Training Program (NSTP), na inisponsoran nitong Miyerkules.

“Last Monday, we also approved 17 bills on third and final reading, including four that are of national application,” dagdag ni Zubiri.

Tinutukoy niya ang Cultural Mapping Bill, the One Town One Product Act, the “No Permit No Exam” Policy Prohibition Act, at ang Act Providing for Moratorium on the Payment of Student Loans During Disasters.

MANILA, Philippines- Magsisimula ang aplikasyon para sa kompensasyon sa mga indibidwal at grupo na apektado ng oil spill sa Oriental Mindoro sa Lunes, ayon sa insurer ng lumubog na motor tanker nitong Huwebes.

Sa press briefing, inihayag ni Atty. Valeriano del Rosario, abogado ng insurer na P&I Club ng MT Princess Empress, na magtatatag ng local claims offices sa mga apektadong lugar.

“On the week of 27 March 2023, the first claim offices, also known as claims caravan, will open in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro and it will act as the collecting point for the claimants to submit their completed claim forms,” pahayag niya.

“Subsequently, we will also see the opening of local claims offices in the other affected barangays as well,” dagdag ng abogado.

Bas ekay Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito Dolor, kinumpirma ng P&I Club sa pulong nitong Huwebes ng umaga na tumatanggap na sila ng aplikasyon para sa kompensasyon.

Aniya pa, depende ang komputasyon ng claims sa claimants at kategorya ng kanilang claims.

May karga ang motor tanker Princess Empress na halos 900,000 litro ng industrial fuel oil nang lumubog ito dahil sa malakas na alon noong February 28. Nailigtas naman ang 20 sakay nito.

May kabuuang 163,508 inidbidwal o 34,555 pamilay sa Mimaropa at Western Visayas ang apektado ng oil spill, base sa National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council  (NDRRMC) hanggang nitong Miyerkules.

Idineklara na rin ang state of calamity sa 10 lungsod at munisipalidad, base sa NDRRMC.
