Public health consultant umalma sa targeted COVID testing ng PH gov’t

MANILA, Philippines- Pinuna ng isang public health at epidemiology consultant nitong Linggo ang bagong polisiya ng pamahalaan na gawing prayoridad ang vulnerable sectors para sa coronavirus disease (COVID-19) tests.

Sa ilalim ng bagong mga alituntunin, ang mga indibidwal sa ilalim ng A1 hanggang A3 categories- o healthcare workers, senior citizens, at immunocompromised- ay uunahin sa COVID-19 testing.

Subalit ayon kay Carlo Lorenzo, wala umano itong kwenta dahil sila na ang priority groups sa vaccination laban sa COVID-19.

“[It] doesn’t make sense because the Department of Health prioritizes these people to be vaccinated, and then at the same time you prioritize them for testing,” pahayag ni Lorenzo.

“Paano naman po iyong other… categories natin na hindi natin naaabot for the vaccine? So more likely that they’ll get infected because they don’t have the vaccine… And then hindi mo sila ipa-prioritize for testing, hindi nila malalaman ‘yong result nila,” aniya pa.

Patuloy niya, masyado pang maaga upang ipatupad ng Department of Health (DOH) ang bagong polisiya.

“It’s very early pa. I think maraming study pa ang puwedeng lumabas na puwedeng kontrahin ito[ng policies],” sabi niya.

“Pero it’s not really bad or let’s give a chance doon sa changes na binigay ng Department of Health,” dagdag pa ni Lorenzo. RNT/SA
