PH seafarers’ certificates patuloy na kikilalanin ng EU
MANILA, Philippines – Patuloy na kikilalanin ng European Union (EU) ang certificate ng mga Filipino seafarer.
Matatandaan na Pebrero noong nakaraang taon ay hinimok ng EU ang Pilipinas na pagbutihin ang hakbang nito upang makatugon ang mga marino sa Standards of Training, Certification, at Watchkeeping for Seafarers Convention, kasabay ng banta na posibleng hindi na kilalanin ang kwalipikasyon ng mga Filipino seafarer at mawalan ng trabaho sa mga EU flag-carrying vessel.
Sa ulat, hindi pa nakakapasa sa European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) evaluation ang Pilipinas mula 2006.
“Since then, the Philippines has made serious efforts to comply with the requirements, in particular in key areas like the monitoring, supervision, and evaluation of training and assessment,” pahayag ng European Commission nitong Biyernes, Marso 31.

“The Philippines can count on our technical support to further improve the implementation and oversight of minimum education, training, and certification requirements, as well as living and working conditions,” dagdag pa ni Vălean.

Wage hike tugon sa kakapusan ng nars sa PH – solon
MANILA, Philippines – Kailangan nang itaas ang sahod ng nars sa bansa upang matugunan ang kakapusan nito sa Pilipinas dahil mas malaki ang kinikita nila sa ibang bansa kumpara sa lokal na pagamutan, ayon kay Senate President Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri.
Sa pahayag, sinabi ni Zubiri na kailangan itaas ang sahod ng nars sa lokal na pagamutan na umaabot lamang mula P15,000 hanggang P20, 000 kada buwan.
“Who can blame them for leaving? Overseas, they earn somewhere around P150,000 to P200,000 a month. Our salaries and benefits offer no competition,” ayon kay Zubiri.
“They are likely overworked, looking after more than their fair share of patients as more and more of their colleagues leave for better pastures abroad,” dagdag niya.
“If we want nurses to stay in the country, we need to increase their salaries. That’s really the long and short of the diaspora problem that we’re having.”
Naunang inatasan ng Palasyo ang Commission on Higher Education na tugunan ang kakapusan ng nars sa bansa na patuloy na umuunti dahil sa pagtatrabaho sa labas ng bansa.
“I have no doubt that our nurses want to stay here. They want to be with their families, and they want to help our people. But they need to make a decent living as well, and they need to be paid in wages and benefits that are commensurate to the work that they render. If they don’t get this, then they have no other choice but to leave,” ayon kay Zubiri.
Naunang inihayag ni Commissioner Erwin Enad of the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) na kakaunti lamang ang suplay ng doktor, nars, at iba pang health workers sa bansa.
“As of March 24, there are 951,105 registered nurses but only 53.55% or 509,297 are active. There are also 182,300 registered midwives in the country but only 38.1% or 64,475 are practicing. For physicians, there are 159,283 registered individuals but 59.70% or 95,039 are active,” ayon kay Enad. Ernie Reyes
Suspek sa pagnanakaw, patay sa shootout
MANILA, Philippines – Patay ang isang hinihinalang suspek sa pagnanakaw nang makipagpalitan ito ng putok sa pulistya sa Brgy. Ligtong, Noveleta, Cavite.
Sa ulat, kinilala ang biktima na si Alben Robert Herrera, 18 anyos, binata nakatira sa Brgy. Malainen, Naic, Cavite.
Base sa report, nakipag-ugnayan ang Maragondon Municipal Police Station (MPS) sa Noveleta MPS para sa pag-aresto kay Herrera na suspek sa ilang serye ng robbery incidents sa Maragondon matapos na nakatanggap ng tawag na nagtago ang suspek sa Brgy Ligtong, Noveleta, Cavite.
Agad na nagsagawa ng operasyon ang kapulisan ganap na alas-10:45 ng gabi kung saan namataan ang suspek sa Brgy Salcedo II, Noveleta, nasabing lugar, at dito na nakipagpalitan ng putok ang suspek kung kaya’t gumanti ang mga operatiba.
Tinamaaan sa leeg ang suspek na nagresulta ng kanyang kamatayan.
