MANILA, Philippines – Ipinababawi ng isang mambabatas ang re-engineered version ng Maharlika Investment Fund.

Ayon kay Albay 1st District Rep. Edcel Lagman nitong Lunes, Enero 23, hindi pa kasi sumailalim sa deliberasyon ng Kamara ang bagong bersyon nito.

Sa ilalim ng bagong bersyon na ipinakita ni Rep. Joey Salceda, ang pondo ng Maharlika Investment Fund ay kukunin mula sa dibidendo ng GOCCs o securitization ng P42 bilyon na dibidendo.

Dagdag pa, ang pagkuha naman ng pondo sa Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas at Development Bank ay inalis na.

Ang dibidendo ng GOCCs ani Salceda ay sobra pa.

Sa kabila nito, ipinunto naman ni Lagman na na sa batas, 50% ng GOCC dividends ay dapat ipasa sa national treasury para sa socio-economic projects at ang 50% ay i-reinvest sa GOCC operations.

Dahil dito, ang dibidendo ng GOCC ay hindi surplus.

“The income of these corporations should not be sequestered or securitized because they are invariably used to fund the national budget……Used to help fund the national budget and address directly and immediately the socio-economic needs of the people like health, education, food security, basic infrastructure,” ani Lagman.

“You are depriving our people of the necessary funding for basic services…Ang apektado yung tao,” sinabi pa ng mambabatas.

“That’s why I’m asking we should recall the approval of the bill so the House can deliberate on these re-engineered provisions because it did not pass the House. It was not discussed in the House. It was not deliberated in the House,” pagpapatuloy nito.
