Rights-based education framework sa Pinas ikinasa ng DepEd

MANILA, Philippines- Upang gabayan ang mga tauhan at iba pang stakeholders sa tunkuling respetuhin, protektahan, isakatuparan at isulong ang mga karapatan ng mga bata sa edukasyon, ipinag-utos ng Department of Education (DepEd) ang pag-adopt sa Rights-Based Education (RBE) Framework sa basic education system ng bansa.

“At the center of Philippine basic education is the child and the learner,” pahayag ng DepEd sa Department Order No. 31 series of 2022 nito.

“In pursuance of the holistic development of the child, the Department envisions child-centered and child-caring basic education schools, learning centers, and offices, which perform their duty to respect, protect, fulfill, and actively promote the education rights of children so they may lead productive and happy lives as they participate in nation-building,” dagdag ng DepEd.

Kinikilala ng RBE-DepEd na “children are persons with rights and active participants in their education and its design, development, and management, and not merely passive recipients of education services.”

Sinabi pa ng DepEd na sa framework, kinikilala ang mga bata bilang “rights-holders and adults are duty-bearers who have a corresponding obligation to uphold these rights.”

Patuloy pa ng DepEd na ito ay “framework for basic education in which DepEd performs its mandate to uphold the education rights of the child on the basis of legal obligations corresponding to those rights.” RNT/SA
