MANILA, Philippines – Pinag-aaralan na ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ang pagpapalakas pa ng seguridad para sa mga local government officials kasunod ng ilang insidente ng pag-atake laban sa kanila.

Ayon kay PNP head for the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management Brig. Gen Matthew Baccay, nakipagkita umano ang PNP at Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) sa Union of Local Authorities in the Philippines, League of Governors at League of Mayors nitong Martes, Marso 7 para pag-usapan ang mga bagay kaugnay dito.

“What was discussed was the provision of PSPs, Protective Security Personnel, to those who are allowed, including private individuals and an increase is possible through the protocols set up for the provision of PSP’s and PA’s protective agents,” ani Baccay.

“For now the move of the PNP is [to] provide additional security personnel for those with validated threat assessment and for the others who wish to avail of PSPs and PAs,” dagdag niya.

Aniya, limitado lamang sa pagbibigay ng dalawang Protective Security Personnel ang laan para sa local chief executive.

Dahil dito, hinimok ng mga mambabatas ang PNP na dagdagan pa ang seguridad ng mga lokal na opisyal ng pamahalaan.

Pinuna naman ni House Committee on Public Order and Safety Chair Rep. Dan Fernandez ang pagpalya ng PNP na maiwasan ang pagkamatay ni Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.

“Somehow you have to have a vision kasi otherwise all of us elected officials will have this bad dreams every night na baka paggising namin kami na. So what instruments do you have in mind considering that others failed? tanong ni Fernandez.

Samantala, sinabi naman ni Misamis Occidental 2nd District Rep. Sancho Fernando Oaminal na nakatatanggap na noon pa ng banta si Degamo.

“Why is it na hindi po natin na-prevent?” tanong naman ni Oaminal.

“How about the 311 members of the Lower House? Does that include us doon sa securities na bibigyan po? How about us? I believe, lahat po ng pumasok sa politika andiyan na po yung threat eh,” patuloy na pagtatanong nito.

Ipinaliwanag ni Baccay na kasalukuyan nang pinag-aaralan ang pagbibigay ng seguridad sa mga congressman.

“Yes sir, because as we speak each member of the House of Congress is allowed 2 and under extreme and emergency cases may add up to 6. So with recent incidents, the attendees yesterday were asking for more and that’s what I meant by studying the increase in the number of bodyguards.”

Pumayag naman si Baccay sa panawagan ni Fernandez na magsagawa ang PNP ng fresh threat assessments.

Siniguro rin niya na palalakasin pa ng PNP ang operasyon laban sa guns for hire, kasama ang paglalagay ng check point sa iba’t ibang mga lugar. RNT/JGC

Sa pangunguna ni PEMS Luis J. Coderes ng Intelligence and Warrant Section ng PS-4 MPD ay isinilbi ang warrant of arrest laban kay Corpuz.

BULACAN – Bumuo na ang Bulacan Police Provincial Office ng Special Investigation Task Group Serna para sa malalimang imbestigasyon sa pagpatay kay San Miguel acting chief of police PLt. Col. Marlon Serna.

Napatay si Serna nang rumesponde sa insidente ng nakawan sa isang tindahan sa Brgy. San Juan, San Miguel hanggang tuluyang mapa-engkwentro sa tinugis na riding in tandem na sangkot dito pasado alas-9 ng gabi nitong Marso 25 sa Brgy. Buhol na Mangga, San Ildefonso.

Kaugnay nito, sa isang Facebook post, nagpahayag ang PNP- Directorate for Police Community Relations na ang buong kapulisan ay nakikidalamhati sa pamilya ng kabarong si Serna.

Bilang pagluluksa at pagpapakita rin ng respeto ng buong hanay ng pulisya sa tapang at dedikasyon sa sinumpaang tungkulin ni Serna ay naka-half mast na ang watawat ng Pilipinas sa Police Region Office 3.

MANILA, Philippines – Inirekomenda ng Department of Justice (DOJ) ang paghahain ng murder charges laban sa anim na suspek na sangkot sa pagpatay kay Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.

Aniya, ang mga suspek ay sasampahan din ng 13 counts ng frustrated murder at three counts ng attempted murder.

Ani Clavano, iimbestigahan pa ang frustrated murder charge laban kay Diomedes Omatang dahil sa kakulangan ng dokumento na magpapatunay ng mga tinamo nitong pinsala sa katawan.

Ayon pa sa tagapagsalita ng DOJ, inatasan na ang National Bureau of Investigation-National Capital Region na ipagpatuloy ang imbestigasyon sa di-umano ay recruiter at handler na binanggit ng mga respondents.

“The cases will be tried jointly with the previous cases for murder filed by the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor of Negros Oriental against the four previous respondents who were caught and subjected to inquest proceedings recently,” ani Clavano.

Matatandaan na pinagbabaril-patay si Degamo at walo iba pa noong Marso 4 sa mismong harap ng bahay ng gobernador.

Samantala, pinuri naman ni Clavano ang pagtatrabaho ng Joint Task Force Degamo.

MANILA, Philippines – Opisyal nang itinalaga ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. si Marine commandant Major General Charlton Sean Gaerlan bilang deputy chief of staff ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Ito ang pangatlong pinakamataas na opisyal sa militar.

Pormal namang naupo si Gaerlan sa kanyang posisyon sa AFP General Headquarters sa Camp Aguinaldo sa isinagawang seremonya na pinangunahan ni General Andres Centino, araw ng Lunes, Marso 27.

Pinalitan ni Gaerlan si Lieutenant General William Gonzales, na naupo naman bilang acting at may concurrent capacity bilang AFP Inspector General noong Marso 15 nang magretiro sa pwesto si dating AFP deputy chief of staff Vice Admiral Rommel Anthony Reyes.

Ang pinakabagong designasyon ni Gaerlan ay matapos ang pitong buwan na pagtitimon niya sa Marine Corps noong Agosto ng nakaraang taon.

Siya ay miyembro ng Philippine Military Academy “Makatao” Class of 1989.

Nagsilbi si Gaerlan bilang commander ng AFP Education, Training, and Doctrine Command, assistant AFP deputy chief of staff for intelligence, commander ng 3rd Marine Brigade, at Marine Inspector General.

“I am humbled and honored to stand before you as I assume as the TDCSAFP (The Deputy Chief of Staff AFP), a leadership post charged with a great amount of responsibility and a higher level of accountability,” ang sinabi ni Gaerlan sa kanyang talumpati.

Humingi naman ng suporta si Gaerlan para sa modernisasyon ng military upang makamit aniya ng tropa ng pamahalaan ang layunin nito na maging “world-class armed force.”

“I urge everyone to continue to support the AFP modernization and transformation programs so that we can achieve our mission to become a world-class Armed Force and continue to value the enhancement of professionalism across the organization,” anito.

Kumpiyansa naman si Centino na magiging epektibo si Gaerlan bilang AFP deputy chief of staff, iginiit nito ang kadalubhasaan ni Gaerlan sa larangan ng intelligence, operations at personnel management.

“Without doubt, his previous designations prepared him to take on greater tasks as the AFP’s third-in-command,” ayon kay Centino.

Hindi pa naman inaanunsyo ng militar kung sino naman ang magiging kapalit ni Gaerlan bilang commandant ng Marine Corps, isang major sa ilalim ng Philippine Navy. Kris Jose
