Sorry ng World Bank tinanggap na ng DepEd

Manila, Philippines – Sinabi ng Department of Education (DepEd) na ‘na-acknowledge’ na nila ang apology ng World Bank sa umano’y ‘premature’ publication ng kontrobersyal na report sa student learning assessments ng Pilipinas.

“More than admitting to their oversight, we hope the WB statement has clearly reiterated the commitment of and concrete steps being taken by the Department, together with our partners, to resolve century-old issues plaguing the Philippine education system,” lahad ng DepEd.

Tinawag ang naturang pag-aaral na “Improving Student Learning Outcomes and Well-Being in the Philippines: What Are International Assessments Telling Us? (Vol.2): Synthesis Report Presentation” kung saan sinabing 80 porsyento ng mga estudyanteng Filipino ay nasa mas mababa sa minimum ng ‘level of proficiency’ sa kanilang grade levels.

Maaalalang sinabi ng World Bank kahapon na pinagsisihan na nila ang paglalabas ng naturang report.

“The report on education was inadvertently published earlier than scheduled and before the Department of Education had enough chance to provide inputs.” RNT/FGDC
