Manila, Philippines – Hiniling ni Senate President Vicente ‘Tito’ Sotto III sa Philippine National Police na payagan si Senator Leila de Lima na magsagawa ng legislative hearing sa kanyang detention facility.
Sa inilabas na sulat kaninang umaga, nakikiusap si Sotto kay PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde na hayaan si De Lima na gampanan ang kanyang katungkulan bilang senador partikular bilang chairman ng Senate Committee on Social Justice Welfare and Rural Development.
“As the Senate President, I am giving Sen. De Lima full authority to discharge her duties as chair of the Committee, particularly to conduct and personally preside over its hearings — similar to what had been done by Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV during his detention,” ayon sa sulat ni Sotto na may petsang July 2.
Si De Lima ay nakakulong sa Custodial Center simula pa noong February 2017 matapos na maakusahan na tumatanggap ng bayad mula sa mga drug lord noong siya ay justice secretary pa lang.
“This request is being made so as the relevant measures that are currently pending in the Committee will be given opportunity to be heard by the Philippine Senate,” dagdag pa sa sulat. (Remate News Team)
