MANILA, Philippines – SASAMPAHAN ng kasong kriminal at administratibo ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) ang isang punong barangay na sumuntok sa isang tauhan ng nasabing ahensiya sa isinagawang clearing operations sa Dagupan Extension sa Tondo, Maynila noong nakaraang buwan.

Ito ang ipinahayag ni MMDA acting chair Don Artes kasabay ng isinagawang inspeksyon sa clearing operations sa Dagupan Street nitong Martes kung saan susuportahan aniya nito ang kanilang mga manggagawa na sinasalakay sa kanilang tungkulin.

Ang mga road clearance operations, aniya, ay ginagawa sa ilang mga kalsada na ginagamit bilang alternatibong ruta na may mga sagabal na nakakaapekto sa daloy ng trapiko.

Aniya, nalinis ang Road 10 Yuseco Extension sa Dagupan St. dahil ginagamit ito bilang pangunahing alternatibong daan na papasok at palabas ng mga daungan sa Maynila.

“The agency will coordinate with the police to ensure peace and order in the area where we are conducting clearing operations. This is to avoid incidents where personnel from our teams are injured or harmed by violators,” ani Artes.

Umapela naman ang opisyal sa publiko na huwag gumamit ng karahasan sa panahon ng mga insidenteng ito dahil ang mga tauhan ng MMDA ay maaaring makipag-ayos at itinuro na sundin ang maximum tolerance sa lahat ng oras.

Sa isinagawang inspeksyon, sinabi ni DILG Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs Felicito Valmocina na ang pagpapanatili ng kalinisan at kaayusan ng mga lugar na ito ay nasa responsibilidad ng barangay chairperson.

“The DILG will monitor the cleared areas. Should the barangay captain fail to maintain the cleanliness of their areas of jurisdiction, they will face appropriate sanctions,” ani Valmocina.

Matatandaan na nitong Enero 24 ay sinuntok umano ni Barangay 51 chairperson Rommel Bravo ang isang miyembro ng MMDA Task Force Special Operations and Anti-Colorum Unit sa isang clearance operation sa Mabuhay Lane sa Dagupan extension.

Nagsimula ang alitan nang subukan ni Bravo na pigilan ang tauhan ng MMDA na tanggalin ang water compressor ng kanyang self-service car wash na ginamit umano para magbigay ng karagdagang pondo sa barangay. Jay Reyes

Naghain ng resolusyon si Senador Grace Poe na humihimok sa Department of Transportation (DOTr) at Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) na tugunan ang mga insidente ng “Bukas Maleta” sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

“‘Bukas Maleta’ incidents in our airports should not be the norm and must be properly address by the Department of Transportation and the Manila International Airport Authority, in accordance with the redress provided under the Air Passenger Bill of Rights and the Montreal Convention, for the peace of mind of all air passengers sojourning our airports,” ani Poe sa inihaing Resolution 463.

“Existing protocols in handling passenger baggage in airports must be evaluated and strengthened considering that these incidents reinforce our unfortunate image as the world’s worst airport, and, ultimately, affect the country negatively,” dagdag niya pa rito.

Binanggit ni Poe ang maraming ulat ng mga ninakaw na gamit at mga nasira na bagahe ng mga pasahero sa eroplano pagdating sa NAIA, partikular ang mga kaso ng mga pasaherong sina Efren San Seastian, Ady Cotoco, vlogger Vanjo Merano, at aktres at Quezon City 5th District Councilor Aiko Melendez.

“Ang mga insidenteng ito ay nagpapatunay na ang mga ninakaw at nasirang bagahe ay paulit-ulit na problema sa NAIA. Noong 2015 pa lang, natagpuan na ng mga airport intelligence agents ang [alahas], wristwatches, kumot, at ilang padlock sa loob ng locker ng anim na baggage handler sa NAIA Terminal 3,” dagdag pa ni Poe.

Sinabi ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) na magtatalaga sila ng 33 tauhan ng militar para tumulong sa patuloy na search and rescue operations sa Turkey na niyanig ng magnitude 7.8 na lindol noong Lunes.

“Nagpapadala kami ng dalawang grupo, mula sa Army at Air Force. A total of 33 personnel — 21 from the Army, 12 from the Air Force,” ani ayon kay AFP chief-of-staff Gen. Andres Centino.

MANILA, Philippines – Kapit-bisig na isinusulong nina Congressmen Paolo Duterte at Eric Yap na magkaroon ng special hospital sa ibat ibang bahagi ng bansa upang tumugon sa pangangailangang medikal ng bawat mamamayang Pilipino.

Ito ay sa pamamagitan ng isinampang panukalang batas bilang 6857 na tinawag na Regional Specialty Hospitals Act na layong makapagtayo ng regional branches ng mga specialty hospitals sa bansa tulad ng Philippine Heart Center, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Lung Center of the Philippines, Philippine Children’s Medical Center at Philippine Cancer Center.

“This is to provide access to affordable and quality healthcare services to all Filipinos, through the provision of specialty hospitals in the different regions of the country,” pahayag ni Duterte.

Aniya pa na mas makabubuting mayroon ding mga specialty hospital sa mga rehiyon sa bansa upang hindi na magpapagod at magsasayang ng oras ang mga taga probinsiya para magpunta sa mga naturang specialty hospital na matatagpuan lamang sa Metro Manila.

“However, in order to afford the expertise of the hospitals’ medical professionals and its advanced amenities and equipment, patients are being encumbered by the additional expenses on transportation and accommodation for their medical needs to be catered, most especially those that are from far-flung areas or provinces,” dagdag ni Duterte.

Sa kanyang panig, sinabi naman ni Congressman Yap na ang Department of Health (DOH) ay nagsasagawa na ng development plan para sa specialty care bilang bahagi ng Philippine Health Facility Development Plan (PHFDP) 2020-2040 na kapapalooban ng paglikha ng 328 specialty centers sa lahat ng rehiyon sa bansa.

“In addition, no less than the Local Government Code of 1991 (LGC) itself has devolved the health services to the LGUs with the objective of making quality health services easily accessible to every Filipino. The case of decentralizing specialty hospitals are no different,” sabi pa ni Yap.
