Accompanied by the Tiangco brothers, the VP and concurrent Department of Education secretary cheerfully and eagerly greeted the residents who went back home with gift packs containing hygiene kits and food items given by her.

“On behalf of the Navotas people, we are so grateful to VP Sara Duterte-Carpio because she finds time to visit the city to personally thank them for their support to her and we are doubly thankful of her support to the city as a whole,” the Tiangco brothers said.

Cash-for-work aid for 2K residents

The city government and the Department of Social Welfare and Development have partnered in implementing a ‘cash-for-work’ program wherein some 2,000 ‘Navoteños’ have benefited, Mayor JRT said.

He claimed that the qualified beneficiaries received P5, 370 for 10 days of work from September 12-21, 2022.
They were assigned to do various tasks such as barangay clean-up, urban gardening, did canal de-clogging and coastal clean-up.

“Many Navoteños still suffer from the economic impact of the pandemic with some losing their livelihood due to rightsizing or business closure,” according the former lawmaker-turned-mayor said.

Aside from the cash-for-work scheme, the local government also opened slots for Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers.

TUPAD is another DSWD program that is being implemented by the office of Rep. Toby wherein hundreds of qualified residents have been benefiting since it was carried out some years ago.

The Navotas lawmaker added that some 700 registered Navoteño solo parents stand to benefit from the latest implementation of TUPAD program.
