Transition program sa discharged AFP personnel, isinusulong

MANILA, Philippines – Plano ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) na magkaroon ng transition programs sa mga discharged personnel nito na taglay na ang mga kakayahang mapanganib upang gamitin ng mga ito sa krimen.

Kung babalikan kasi, napaulat na tatlo ang dating sundalo na sangkot sa pagpatay kay Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.

Tatlo sa itinuturong gunmen kay Degamo ay dating sergeant na natanggal sa serbisyo dahil sa pag-aamok at kasunod ay paga-awol o absence without leave.

Isa pang ex-sergeant ang natanggal dahil sa hinihinalang kaugnayan nito sa illegal na droga at isa pang dating corporal na inakusahan ng “misbehavior before the enemy.”

“We have taught these people the skill that is very dangerous if used in crimes or in lawlessness. So I think it is also our responsibility to make sure this skill sets that they have learned will not be used against our own people,” ani AFP Spokesperson Col. Medel Aguilar.

“These personnel have forgotten that the very reason of our existence in the Armed Forces of the Philippines is to protect our people. And therefore, we have to make sure that this remains with them even after the service,” dagdag pa niya, sa panayam ng ANC.

Susuriin naman ng AFP ang transition at assistance program para sa mga dating sundalo nito.

“This program is intended for the retiring personnel. Now, the Philippine Army is thinking of including those who will be separated from the service because of the cases they are facing,” pagbabahagi pa niya.

Nauna nang sinabi ni dating Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff at retired General Dionisio Santiago na posibleng naging hitmen ang ilan sa mga sundalong natanggal sa serbisyo dahil sa kakulangan ng pensyon.

“Kung dismissed walang pension ‘yan so ‘yun ang problema. Kung walang pension ‘yan at walang trabaho, napakadaling i-entice ‘yan,” sinabi ni Santiago.

“Kasi dito ang problema natin, ang mga uniformed ay nakakabili ka.” RNT/JGC
