Walang Comelec website hacking – PPRCV, NAMFREL

MANILA, Philippines – Sinuportahan ng dalawang elections watchdog ang pahayag ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) na walang nangyaring hacking sa kanilang website partikular sa mga datos para sa halalan sa May 2022.

Inilabas ng Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) at ng National Citizens’ Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL) ang kanilang posisyon sa pagdinig ng House Committee on Suffrage and Electoral Reforms na anila’y base sa koordinayon nila sa poll body.

“We confirm that we received information that the data is not the 2022 data because it has not been generated. We do support the position of the Comelec that the pins were not generated at that time, so there’s really nothing to act [on],” ani PPCRV chair Myla Villanueva.

Para naman kay NAMFREL Secretary General Eric Alvia, mababa ang posibilidad na na-hack ang database ng Comelec.

“Upon initial checks, also because we inquired with our friends in the Comelec and we wanted to get clarified also…it’s true and we concur with the statements of the Comelec that the database that are being alleged to be stolen do not exist,” saad ni Alvia.

Sa kabila nila, patuloy ang panawagan ng dalawang elections watchdog groups sa Comelec na tiyaking ang kanilang mga datos at service providers ay protektado mula sa mga hackers.

Ayon kay Villanueva, dapat na silipin ng poll body ang posibilidad na ang pins ng vote-counting machines na sinasabing na-hack ay ang pins nga mula sa 2019 elections.

Pero sabi ni Comelec Commissioner Marlon Casquejo, malabo itong mangyari dahil nagsasagawa sila ng “stipping” sa kanilang mga server pagkatapos ng kada eleksyon.

“When we say stripping of the servers, all the servers containing any official information, pins, everything, will be removed,” paliwanag ng opisyal ng Comelec.
